Join us on Saturday, January 31 at 7:30 pm at Kulturhaus Insel, Berlin for the launch concert of “En Çok Neyi Özlerim,” the debut single by Berlin-based musician Gözde Berberoğlu, performed live with her band.
📖 About the Song
En Çok Neyi Özlerim is a modern ağıt; a traditional Turkish lament that fuses deep nostalgia, sorrow, and hopeful inquiry. Written as Gözde stood on the threshold of a life-changing move, this piece embodies the emotional tension between departure and belonging.
En Çok Neyi Özlerim
Gitmek mi zor
Kalmak mı zor
Ben ne dersem o
Ben ne dersem o
Büyümüşüm bu yerlerde
Ne yaparım yaban elde
En çok neyi özlerim geceleri düşlerimde
Ben yine bir deneyeyim
Olur belki hayallerim
Ben ne dersem o
Ben ne dersem o
Ne seçersem o
What Would I Miss the Most
Is it harder to go,
Or harder to stay?
Whichever I choose,
It’s my voice, my way.
I’ve grown up in these streets,
What will I do in foreign lands?
What would I miss the most,
When dreams visit me at night?
Still, I’ll give it a try,
Maybe my wishes come through
Whichever I choose
Some Turkish phrases, like “bu yerler” or “yaban el” don’t have direct English equivalents, so a bit of meaning can be lost in translation. But when you consider the context and the lyrics together, the emotional intensity becomes clear.

Gözde Berberoğlu is a Berlin-based musician, songwriter, and composer blending Turkish musical heritage with contemporary sound worlds. Her genre-fluid music moves between folk, jazz, and blues, rooted mainly in Turkish lyrics with the occasional English and instrumental turn. Think of her music as a musical patchwork quilt: warm, colorful, and stitched together with stories.
She composed original music for “Masal Bu Ya,” a radio show on NTV Radio, one of Turkey’s most prominent stations, creating weekly compositions shaped by each episode’s theme and narrative. Alongside her artist projects, she composes game and theatre music, crafting atmospheric and emotionally driven soundscapes.
